Interview with General Hospital's Port Chuck

Steve Burton, Bradford Anderson, Brandon Barash and Scott Reeves star as rivals in General Hospital during the day, and become the band Port Chuck at night. The name Port Chuck stems from the fictional city of Port Charles, where the four reside on the soap. Since the band's creation in late 2009, the guys have traveled the country performing shows for their loyal soap opera fans, released a self-titled cover album and performed on last year's MDA telethon.

As lucky as I am to see the guys every day on my television in General Hospital, I also had the chance to see the guys perform live last August on their End of Summer tour. Now I've had the opportunity to interview Steve, Bradford, Brandon and Scott about the band, their new, original music and the chances of Port Chuck ever performing on GH.

Steve, how did the four of you all come together as Port Chuck?
I had a dream and made it a reality… These guys are so talented.

Bradford, what was it like getting to release the Port Chuck CD?
Amazing to have a physical representation of all our hard work to share.

Brandon, which do you think is more work, touring or working on GH?
Both… In their own way…
Port Chuck performing in
Boston last summer

Steve, you guys are already planning your next tour, any ideas yet on what the fans can expect?
Yes, all new songs and some original stuff…

Scott, what was your favorite song to perform on the last tour?
"Born to Run."

Brandon, this is the question I’ve always wanted to ask you guys. Considering the contrasting characters you each play, is there any chance of Port Chuck ever performing on GH?
The only plausible possibility would be in Spinelli’s head.

Scott, you guys mainly perform covers, do you think there’s any chance of you guys writing a song of your own?
Absolutely!!!! Gonna be on the next record.

Bradford, if you could pick two more GH cast members to add to Port Chuck, who would they be and why?
Tony Geary for cool and class – John Ingle for Banjo.

Do you guys have a message to all your diehard fans?
Thank you for all you do!!! We Appreciate it!!!!

Big thanks to Port Chuck for taking the time to do a great interview! You can see the guys on tour this spring, as well as weekdays on General Hospital!

‎5 days, 5 artists, 5 songs! Day 1: Top 5 - Port Chuck

Over the last year or so, I've really became a fan of Port Chuck. Being a fan of both General Hospital and music, this band is pretty perfect, in my opinion. Steve Burton, Bradford Anderson, Brandon Barash and Scott Reeves make up Port Chuck, a rock and pop cover band who make it very clear that they all love what they do, and love getting to share it with all of their fans.

"No One Like You"
"No One Like You" is one of the first song I heard Port Chuck cover, and it's practically become their own. Bradford's voice is clear and endearing, and all of the guys really seem to get into this one.

"Jessie's Girl"
Port Chuck's cover of "Jessie Girl" is kind of ironic, considering Rick Springfield has been on General Hospital numerous times as Doctor Noah Drake/Musician Eli Love. This is a song you can't not love, no matter who is singing it, and Port Chuck always seems to add their own uniqueness to it.

"Knockin' On Heaven's Door"
Brandon always seems to get into this one, with his smooth, almost balladeer-like voice. This song always adds a calm and enjoyable point to Port Chuck's shows, bring it down a bit a just hearing the guys' voices.

"American Girl"
"American Girl" is another one of those songs that have almost become their own. This upbeat, rock song showcases Brandon and Bradford's voices and allows all of the guys to get into it and have a good time.

"Hallelujah"
Scott's cover of "Hallelujah" was used for general Hospital once before, and really shows off his engaging voice and guitar playing, as the slow song brings their show down a notch.

Over the weekend, General Hospital's Port Chuck performed their first shows since their End of Summer Tour. They performed at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, then headed to NYC for a big show at The Highline Ballroom. Among their set were some of my favorites, "American Girl", "No One Like You" and "White Lines." Videos below:

Concert Review: Port Chuck - End of Summer Tour

Being a General Hospital fan for over three years and a newly Port Chuck fan, when I heard the guys were coming to Boston during their end of summer tour I had to go! And they did not disappoint last night at their show in Boston, and neither did the crowd! Steve Burton, Brandon Barash, Bradford Anderson (who wore a Boston Red Sox shirt!) and Scott Reeves of General Hospital put on a great concert with lots of surprises, singing some new rock covers including classics from Journey and Michael Jackson, along with songs from their album.

Each with their own distinct voices and hilarious personalities, it made for one awesome show! Towards the middle of their set, the guys took it down a bit as Scott got out his guitar and sang "Hallelujah" and sweetly serenaded a young girl for her 14th birthday. They played songs from different decades and classics anyone would know, and they put on a show that everyone would enjoy. Eventually the guys sang one last song and then left the stage, but I noticed no one in the audience was leaving and neither was the band, and that's when I knew it wasn't quite over yet. After the crowd cheered louder than ever, suddenly the intro to "Jessie's Girl" started playing and the guys came out to perform their encore of the Rick Springfield (who was on GH as Dr. Noah Drake/Eli Love) hit.

The concert was fast-paced and nonstop music, and those four guys are very energetic and playful on stage together, even introducing each other as their General Hospital character names! You can tell they love what they're doing and really enjoy each other's company. As for the audience, they were super energetic and enthusiastic, and you could really see how much everyone in the crowd loves these guys!

Reviewing a Port Chuck concert is hard as each show they put on is unpredictable, but I can guarantee you'll enjoy it whether you're a General Hospital fan or just a fan of great music!

Album Review: Port Chuck - Debut album

Whether you're a daily fanatic or a once-in-a-while watcher, you must know a few characters on General Hospital. Steve Burton as mobster Jason, Bradford Anderson as his cyber sidekick Spinelli, Brandon Barash as their enemy Johnny, and Scott Reeves as Steve, the chief of staff at General Hospital. You may know them as their contrasting characters, but what you might not know is, when filming is finished for the day, the four team up as the band Port Chuck.

Started back in 2010, the GH hotties formed the band Port Chuck, named after the fictional city of Port Charles on their soap. If this is news to you, don't be so shocked, as Bradford, Brandon and Scott have all sung on GH before. As for Steve, considering he plays the tough and "stone cold" mobster, it might be a shocker to know he's also a talented singer.

Today, the band has released their self-titled debut album, featuring numerous Bon Jovi and Guns and Roses covers. Mostly a rock album, with a few slower beats, including Scott's "Hallelujah", performed on GH just a few months ago. The songs "Devil Went Down To Georgia" and "In The End" introduce you to Steve's singing and even slight rapping! Others like "Feel Like Making Love" and "Feels Like The First Time" show off Bradford's musical theater background and his sweet and superb vocals.

While other songs show Brandon's excellent vocal ability and Scott's endearing rough sound, the new album is a great listen for any General Hospital, or even rock music fan. So is there any chance of the band performing on GH? Don't count on it! Can you imagine two rival mobsters, a cyber geek and a doctor singing together? They'd have to get pretty drunk at Jake's for that to happen!

Now what's next for these guys? They're currently rehearsing for their upcoming end of summer tour! Be sure to follow @PortChuckBand on twitter for all your Port Chuck deets and catch the guys weekdays on General Hospital!
